Deidre Nortje

Part-time abstract artist based at the southern tip of Africa, deeply inspired by the natural world around me, which exists in stark contrast to a busy, man-made environment. This initiate conversations between tranquillity and turmoil, organic and the geometric in my work. Through being introspective and observant of this ever-evolving state, nature doesn’t just influence my work, but grounds it. It acts as both my subject and collaborator. I am trusting that my intuition knows where its going, therefore my art journey is not always clear, but I’m showing up with curiosity and quiet confidence, reminding the viewer to recognise the emotion rather than the reality.
