"As a versatile artist, I bring over two decades of experience in visual arts and creative production. After being immersed in several other initiatives, I’m returning to a new chapter in my painting practice with a renewed focus and fresh perspective. I have an obsession with playing with what is outside the lines, using scribbles and seemingly haphazard yet intuitive gestures and marks on paper. Heavily relying on play and gut-instinct as my navigator, I dance with colour and composition on the canvas. The canvas and colours inform me, rather than the other way around. I am at a point in my creative journey where I am fully allowing myself to dive deeper into the abstract, which aligns me with something I’ve been tangoing to harness for decades. I am capturing the same energy that has been conveyed in my myriad of notebooks, past works, voice memos, and daydreams forever. It has been formerly unclear precisely how to capture it best, but with this work, I feel something is tangibly in my hands. The process requires trust, a daring mindset, and steering clear from anything too precious. The writings, photography, and installation work are all of the same ilk, with similar processing, & similar outputs." - Kelly Wainwright
