"Aimee's paintings explore the traces of human presence within everyday landscapes, focusing on the spaces, movement and moments that surround us. Inspired by watching the Peninsula Marathon earlier this year, particularly the last stretch from Kalk Bay to Simon’s Town. Aimee watched the women runners move through the space as spectators walked alongside them and cheered, creating a lovely sense of energy and presence along the road. These paintings are of those same spaces after the runners had passed and the road had become quiet again, with the women no longer visible but their presence lingering in the landscape."
