Mariëtte Momberg
Mariëtte Momberg is an experimental printmaker who explores the multi-faceted relationship between humanity and nature with her socio-political views often central to her creative output. Her work has been described as impactful and evocative with elements of pop-art and a decidedly contemporary spin.
Combining graphic imagery with bold pattern and colour, illustrated in linocut and mixed media, her art practice continues to evolve into a vibrant and varied body of work which strives to balance aesthetic with narrative and humour. She is passionate about the environment and feels that creative efforts should make a conscious effort to minimise environmental impact.
Mariëtte is self-taught and has been practicing as a full-time artist since 2018. Prior to pursuing a career in art, she had worked in Academia as a social health researcher specialising in reproductive health and rights. She is an active member of the all-female printmaking collective, The Printing Girls.
