I am currently working on slab built, high fired stoneware vessels, totems and sculptures. The work is expressive in form and contrasting colour and their major aim is to bring joy and happy brightness into a living space, sometimes with a tongue-in-cheek playfulness. • Corne Eksteen | INK BOX ART

INTERESTED IN THIS ARTIST'S WORK? CLICK HERE TO CONTACT US: Mail Corne Eksteen Corné (Cornelis Johannes) Eksteen is a Contemporary figurative painter, renowned for his "vibrational" portraits, still lifes and landscapes that loosely relate to the Disrupted Realism painting movement. His work relies on Figurative, Abstract, Optical and Pattern Art influences in the creation of pieces that explore the subjective nature of the early 21st century psyche in the face of unprecedented technological and social transformations. Currently works are created from reference photos taken in the studio or on site. They are printed and cut into vertical or horizontal strips. Every second strip is removed from the image leaving only sections of the original image intact. This segmented image is transferred to the canvas and during the painting process each omitted strip is painted as a mirror image of the previous strip. It’s a complex process of reproducing the visible strip in the reference photo and creating a mirror image of it, while maintaining a visual connection with the following strip in the image. The result is that lines and forms in the image starts to resemble sinusoidal wave forms. Parts of the image will get changed or broken down to pattern for which patterned wrapping paper or wallpaper often serves as inspiration. Works are primarily produced alla prima. • Ruan Jooste | INK BOX ART

INTERESTED IN THIS ARTIST'S WORK? CLICK HERE TO CONTACT US: Mail Ruan Jooste "I was born and raised in Nigel, a small town in Gauteng southeast of Johannesburg. As a young child I was always drawing, seeking creative outlets. Initially pursuing a passion in fashion design, but soon turned my focus to photography, teaching myself the necessary skills. This previous experience in design and photography culminated in my current digital art practice over recent years. I’ve also had the privilege to work and live in different places in the world. I have lived in Pretoria, Toronto, Joburg, Phuket, and now Cape town. I believe all these different places have given me a perspective of human nature and a philosophy that I apply to my everyday life, which is that we as human beings are more the same than we are different. My approach is the playful blending of luxury fashion elements and South African brand iconography. The nostalgia these well-known local brands hold for so many of us a reminder of our shared memories and associations, a connecting device. “We as South Africans so often focus on what makes us different that we forget how much we are alike. In my mind I want my subjects to form a part of a united tribe, one of courage, positivity and joy.” I always want to add a sense of charm, sass and attitude in my fictional portraits that allude to Magic Realism, but with a local, urban grit. The subjects convey an unapologetic sense of pride, freedom, and self-love. I like to craft a real-world context around these created characters informed by the backstory imagined for each subject while creating and composing the image. With many of the images employing principles of classic portraiture, there is also an unapologetic self-assurance and playfulness that grounds the work in the present. A composition and pose at once acknowledge the Classic tradition, but simultaneously embrace the ‘selfie’ culture of today. I want to continue to invite you into my world where anything and everything is possible, where old meets new, where no one is bound by the shackles of societal pressure." - Ruan Jooste CHECKERS & A GUINEA FOWL Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A2 Framed IN STOCK: R10,800 A0: R18,000 A1: R13,000 A2: R9,000 BOSS LADY Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A2 Framed IN STOCK: R16,800 A0 Print: SOLD OUT A1 Print: SOLD OUT A2 Print: SOLD OUT SPAR & A JACK RUSSELL Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A0: R18,000 A1: SOLD OUT A2: R9,000 FAST FINANCE & A BEER Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A0: R18,000 A1: R13,000 A2: R9,000 OMO & A CASTLE OF HOPE Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A0: R18,000 A1: R13,000 A2: R9,000 HIGH TEA & A HOTEL Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A00: R50,000 A0: SOLD OUT A1: R13,000 TO CARRY A NATION Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A1: R19,000 in stock A0: SOLD OUT A00: R55,000 THE WEIGHT OF WHAT REMAINS Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A1: R19,000 A0: R25,000 A00: R55,000 MEMORIES YELLOW GLOW Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A1: R19,000 A0: R25,000 A00: R55,000 CARRYING MY OWN Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A1: R19,000 A0: R25,000 A00: R55,000 SHE WHO CARRIES THE CROWN Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A1: R19,000 A0: R25,000 A00: R55,000 THE SILENT NEGOTIATION Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A1: R19,000 A0: R25,000 A00: R55,000 SENTINEL OF THE SWAN Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A1: R19,000 A0: R25,000 A00: R55,000 WHAT THE WATER HOLDS Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A1: R19,000 In Stock A0: R25,000 A00: R55,000 CAN YOU FEEL IT Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A1: R19,000 A0: R25,000 A00: R55,000 MY DARLING ADRIFT Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A1: R19,000 A0: R25,000 A00: R55,000 BROTHERS OF THE CURRENT Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A1: R19,000 A0: R25,000 A00: R55,000 BREAD & BACKDOOR Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A0 Print: R18,000 A1 Print: R13,000 A2 Print: R9,000 MINIMARK & TELEPHONE Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A0 Print: R18,000 A1 Print: R13,000 A2 Print: R9,000 WIMPY & LAUNDRY LINE Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A0 Print: R18,000 A1 Print: R13,000 A2 Print: R9,000 NIKNAKS & A CARACAL Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A0: R18,000 A1: R13,000 A2: R9,000 LEKKA BUBBLEGUM Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A0 Print: SOLD OUT A1 Print: R19,000 A2 Print: R15,000 SHOPPING BAGS & A FLOWER DRESS Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A0: R18,000 A1: R13,000 A2: R9,000 LEATHER JACKET & A PERFUME SHOP Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A0: R18,000 A1: R13,000 A2: R9,000 FRENCH POLONY.jpg Ruan Jooste High Quality Prints A0 Print: R21,000 A1 Print: R15,000 A2 Print: R12,000

  • Karin Hopkinson | INK BOX ART

INTERESTED IN THIS ARTIST'S WORK? CLICK HERE TO CONTACT US: Mail Karin Hopkinson Painting is my way of noticing. Nature is my starting point – its colours, cycles, and quiet lessons but it’s the deeper truths hiding in plain sight that really draw me in. I work primarily in oils and often choose to mix my colours as little as possible. Instead, I layer them like a printmaker might, letting each hue speak for itself. This process allows me to leave my human interpretation visible, a kind of dialogue between what I see and what I feel. I’m fascinated by the intersection of life and impermanence. There’s something both eerie and comforting in how quietly things come and go, how fragile we are, and yet how much beauty persists. The things we feel and see are what surpass mortality. I try to hold that space in my work. Colour, to me, is a gift – a bridge between nature’s world and mine.
